Keegan and Mei met in 2015 when Keegan was a Freshman and Mei Was a Sophomore. Mei had taken his spot during lunch and jokingly refused to move. Keegan responded by sitting on Mei. Keegan being the “live on the edge” type of person really brought Mei out of her shell. Mei always was stressed out and determined to follow every rule to a T. Soon after meeting Keegan, she started to mellow out more, and learned to slow down and enjoy things in the moment. Mei’s habits started to rub off on Keegan as well. Keegan and Mei would plan movie dates after school, watching movies on Keegan’s school computer in the cafeteria. Mei insisted that they both get all of their homework done before starting a movie. The best parts of them both made them each a better person. They decided in the end to split up. This would turn out to be the best thing that happened to them both as they took time to themselves to grow and mature as individuals. During this time, Mei completed her undergraduate and Keegan went to trade school to learn how to be a welder.

7 years had gone by since they were last together. They decided to reconnect and see how the other was doing. The same day that they reconnected, Keegan had just accepted a job in tower climbing and Mei was just starting graduate school to become an elementary school special education teacher. Tower climbing brought Keegan all over the states and further away from Mei. Mei was preoccupied with graduate school. Both however were able to make time for each other when their schedules brought them back to the same area.

A year later and Keegan and Mei were still going strong. They had taken their first road trip together as a couple, learning so many things about each other and what made them who they are today. The road trip took them to Pennsylvania to visit both Mei and Keegan’s aunts and uncles. They were so excited that they got to share this milestone together.

Soon they were going vacations with each other’s family. Keegan enjoyed a trip to the beach and some time off. He got to spend time with Mei, her family, and himself. The vacation was much needed and very relaxing. EXCEPT for when… they were taking a nice walk on the beach and they came across a man who had been trying to reel in a shark on his line. He had been at it for hours and was as tired as he was determined. Mei jokingly said to Keegan “hey! You should help him and go pull the shark in by the tail for him!” Keegan being Keegan, always wanting to impress his gal took this at face value.

Halloween was just around the corner and Keegan asked Mei the question of all questions for this Holiday. “Can we do a couples costume?!” Mei, not being this type of person and surprised that Keegan had asked this took a minute to respond and then said “I guess…” Little did they know this would be the most comfy couples costume. Walking down Franklin Street, they got a lot of sweet reactions from bystanders, one of them being “I wish someone loved me as much as that!”

Right before the holidays, Keegan and Mei decided to take that big first step and move in together. They found a home with each other and could not be happier to be able to come home after the day to see not only their best friend, but their better half. Move in day was hectic as it was pouring rain and they needed to move all of their things to the top floor. Luckily they had help from their number one supporters… their families.

It took a while to settle in, but by Christmas time, they had everything unpacked, a trimmed tree decorated, and stockings up and ready for the 25th. They were overjoyed for their first holiday together. They split the morning with each other’s families and then took the afternoon to enjoy their first Christmas together.

On the day of their second anniversary, they decided to expand their family. They adopted 2 kittens from the same litter, Freya and Aella. Sadly Aella didn’t make it as she was too ill from the shelter to survive after 3 days of being home. Heartbroken, Keegan and Mei had to deal with a joined loss together one sooner than they thought they would. They focused all of their love and heartbreak on Freya.

Mei had planned a mountain vacation as a surprise for Keegan for a late birthday gift. This trip brought them many beautiful views and wonderful experiences. Keegan helped Mei face one of her fears on a hike. On their way back down from the top of the mountain, Mei really injured her ankle. Keegan was a champion, INSISTING on bringing things to Mei when she needed them and later on carrying her to different areas of the apartment while she was healing in a cast.

ENTER LOKI… On the way home from the mountains, they decided to adopt a friend for Freya as she seemed lonely. Of course, the kitten that chose us was the one kitten that Freya wanted nothing to do with. We brought Loki home, taking care of him and helping him gain strength and health back from being sick. All Loki wanted to do is make biscuits, cuddle and lick your face. Other than now being healthy, nothing has changed. Loki still loves being with mom and dad and the biscuit factory is still up and running.

On their 3 year anniversary, they went to the Life and Science Museum to celebrate. While watching the butterflies in the Butterfly House, Keegan got down on one knee and proposed.
